Prime Minister Robert Golob: Let us give peace a chance and put an end to the madness
SLOVENIA, April 8 - Millions of people in the region are living in fear as a result of the US-Israeli attacks on Iran and the subsequent Iranian strikes on targets across the Middle East. The consequences of this war, which is not our own, are being felt worldwide. Let us recall the words of Pope Leo XIV, who yesterday stated that escalating the war would resolve nothing and would only fuel global hostility.
The ceasefire agreement must now be seized as an opportunity to give diplomacy a chance. Above all, the Iranian people and their courageous stance against the tyrannical leadership in Iran must be put at the forefront. They deserve the full support of the international community and a future that is worthy of human dignity, rather than threatening rhetoric and a senseless war, in which we are witnessing attacks on civilian infrastructure and blatant violations of international law.
Likewise, the people of Lebanon continue to be victims of the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. Here, we are witnessing the suffering of civilians and the destruction of civilian facilities, as well as the illegal Israeli occupation of an ever-expanding part of southern Lebanon.
